Sign Up and Install Google Webmasters
Google Webmasters provides a starting point for gathering information without having to pay for SEO software. You’ll be able to see Search Traffic, HTML improvements, links to your site, bad URLs, and how your site is indexed. If there are any problems with your site, Google Webmasters will tell you through “Site Messages” what the issue is and how to fix it.
Create a SiteMap (XML)
Indexing your site is critical for search engines to be able to find information. The easiest way to describe a Sitemap is an XML file that lists URLs, additional metadata about each URL (when it was last updated, how often it usually changes, and how important it is, relative to other URLs in the site) so that search engines can more intelligently crawl the site. A great tool to use to develop an XML sitemap is https://www.xml-sitemaps.com.
No 404 Errors
Google Webmasters will tell you if you have any 404 errors (sites that do not exist or redirect properly). Search engines frown upon these errors. Often you see these errors when you redesign your website. Make sure all old pages redirect to functioning page on your new site.
Internal Links
Outbound Links carry a lot of weight but so Internal Links (ex: SEO Articles). You can link to services pages, blog articles, call to actions, and any other page you want to as well. This gives your website more depth, increases usability, and help with SEO.
